Preparing Items

All clothing, car seats, strollers, swings, blankets, bibs, toys must be clean!

Please check recall information online at: www.cpsc.gov.

When you bring your items to the GKS during Receiving Days, clothing must be sorted by GENDER and SIZE before it can be checked in. This will expedite the check-in process; the more organized you are, the quicker the receiving process will be! You will be expected to stay and sort your items, if they ARE NOT in correct order.

Shoes, belts, hats, gloves and other accessory items should be sorted by gender as well.

Toys should be sorted by like kinds ~ books, boys' toys, girls' toys, Barbie dolls and accessories together, board games, video tapes/DVDs, music, educational toys, seasonal merchandise and bedding. This makes the sorting much easier for us and our volunteers.

Getting started can be an overwhelming thought!!!! Do NOT try to do it all at one time.

*Start with a group of like items. For example-A group of girls clothes sizes newborn-2t or all videos, dvds, or a few drawers at a time and sort the items.

*Label empty boxes with the things you may have to bring to the sale. Go ahead and label a donate box and trash box. When you have tagged your items you can immediately put them in the box to bring to the sale...

OR.. the label boxes can be used to organize and sort your things prior to entering them online.. Find the system that works for you.

DON'T wait till the LAST MINUTE... Enter a few items each night, print the tags and label them. Before you know it you have finished and waiting on the SALE.!!!

When doing clothes: 1. put them by gender. 2. then by sizes. This make it so much easier when entering items online. To go one step further you could then put the in order by brand..(You will not have to type as much on line but just a suggestion!)
